William Jacobson is a veteran educator and long time Rotarian. He served the Iowa public schools as a teacher, principal, central office administrator, and superintendent of schools. In each of these roles he involved Rotary as a part of his personal and professional life.
Dr. Jacobson has a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in Educational Administration and Psychology. He also holds degrees from a college and two other universities. He is married to a fellow teacher, Mary Jane, and they have two children and four grandchildren.
He served as a Charter Member of Cedar Rapids West becoming its president in 1983. he currently serves as District Trainer. He is a frequent presenter in many different Rotary Clubs.
He is the author of a book entitled, We Are What We Were When, a collection of essays on growing up in rural Iowa, and working in Iowa’s public schools. Dr. Jacobson has a passion for Rotary and the things it does to improve Rotarians and society. He considers it an honor to be able to serve District 5970.
