August, 2019

Greetings, District 5970!

Thank you to everyone who sent well-wishes or attended my district governor installation ceremony. The family of Rotary holds a special place in my heart. I took a last minute trip across the state to celebrate the life of Assistant District Governor Jacob’s Wittrock’s father, and my first grandchild was born during the ceremony. Greyson’s birth, along with serving as your governor, will be a great joy throughout the year.

#flatpaulharris helps Michelle welcome
grandson Greyson into the world!

Being busy is part of life as a Rotarian. But none of us has to go it alone. Your assistant district governors, other district leaders, and I are here to help you. And a new Rotary International tool, the Club Planning Assistant, can help you troubleshoot specific issues your club is facing.

Throughout the rest of the summer, I encourage you to connect with me and with each other. In Rotary, we are all better together – especially when life gets crazy.

One Rotary Summit

The time is drawing near for the 2019-20 One Rotary Summit (ORS). Our Rotary story is connected through membership, public image, and humanitarian service. Every Rotarian has stories to tell, and these stories inspire current members, attract new members, and can increase Rotary Foundation giving.

This year’s ORS theme will be "Connected by Our Rotary Stories." Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn why storytelling skills are so important in Rotary

  • Gather ideas to distribute Rotary stories in the community and to current and prospective members

  • Take home Personal Action Plans and a One Rotary Toolkit to use in their clubs
