January, 2021

A Note from Your District Governor

Hope for 2021

Well, that was a weird, wild ride of a year. While none of us is so naive that we expect 2021 to be a gangbuster year as soon as the ball drops, we are all ready for a year marked with less disruption and more peace.

We remain hopeful that 2021 will be a year of healing and a starting place for our return to normalcy. For starters, we are making plans for many exciting programs to return, including:

  • RYLA: Registration opens February 1, 2021. You can also get updates at IowaRYLA.org.

  • YRYLA: Registration opens February 1, 2021. You can also get updates at IowaYoungRYLA.org

  • One Rotary Summit (Virtual) - TENTATIVE DATES - January 26, 2021 at 4:30 p.m. and January 30, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.

  • North Central President Elect Training (Virtual) - March 12, 13, and 18, 19 - (with optional sessions during the week) - Registration will be available soon at www.ncpets.org

  • District Conference (Virtual) - April 30 and May 1

Though the youth programs are not guaranteed, it is heartening to see that plans are being made to hold these programs safely. Every safe step towards normalcy will improve our cohesion, sense of community, and well-being, particularly for our youngest Rotarians.

What programs are your club holding that you’d like to share with the DIstrict? Email your events to Suellen Kolbet at des@district5970.org for inclusion in our shared District mailings.

Record Your Club’s Future Leaders with the District

If a club hasn't identified their President Elect for 2021-2022, it needs to be done immediately and the information emailed to Suellen Kolbet at des@district5970.org.

Remember, succession planning not just for the president elect but for the entire executive board (if they have one) and committee chairs is necessary. If you are feeling stuck, reach out to me or Suellen - we can help connect you with the information you need to create your succession plan.
