Welcome to the first District 5970 Foundation Committee newsletter for Rotary year 2022-2023.

 

I want to take a minute to talk with all District 5970 Rotarians about Global Grants.  So much good gets done around the world utilizing Global Grants.  As Rotarians you have most likely heard of the more than 15 million dollars raised by Rotarians to help Ukraine refugees, the Water projects our District is involved with in Haiti, Uganda (and three other countries), Clubfoot training and treatment in Mexico and Brazil, but are you aware how to help personally or how your club can be a part of a Global Grant? 

 

There are clubs in District 5970 that regularly are a part of Global Grants and in my travels around the District, I have been asked how other clubs can hear about Global Grants in time to be a part of them.  We have an opportunity to have clubs in our District be a part of a Global Grant in Vietnam.  The initiating club is looking for partners and is willing to hold an online meeting to talk through the project and what it would take to be involved.  I encourage you to talk with your club committee and sign up with Michelle Bell to learn about this grant and Global Grants in general.  You can contact Michelle (our District 5970 Global Grants Chair) at mlbelldg2019@gmail.com .

Thank you to the 67 District 5970 Rotarians who joined the new PolioPlus Society by committing to giving $100.00 or more to the PolioPlus campaign annually.  Your certificates and lapel pins will be going out to your clubs for presentation in August.

 

I need to remind all clubs that your Annual Fund and PolioPlus campaign goals need to be submitted online.  There are still 12 clubs that have not entered the goals along with the rest of the club goals you need to submit.  Please get them submitted or call your Assistant Governor for help getting these done.
