February, 2023

Foundation First newsletter

Welcome to the February 2023 District 5970 Foundation newsletter.  Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter – it is my pleasure to serve you and the district.

I had mentioned in my October newsletter trying to start a fundraising project to be able to send an ambulance to Ukraine from District 5970.  I abandoned that effort when I did not think I could raise the amount needed in the time frame required.  In the process of research, I had contacted Folience, an umbrella company based in Cedar Rapids that owes a company in Iowa the makes ambulances.  I am very pleased to report that they figured out a way to have an ambulance sent to Ukraine.  Thank you Daniel Goldstein and the Folience team.

I have to remind you that February is the last month of this year’s District 5970 Rotary Rush where you can have your donation matched by a generous district Rotarian if you will donate half way to your next Paul Harris Recognition level.  Details and an application can be found by clicking here.

I have had questions on donating with many utilizing their club foundation chair to donate.  Please be sure that the foundation chair is including your Rotary ID number as we have had a couple of instances where a list of Rotarians was sent to Our Rotary Foundation but ID numbers were not included.  The donation was entered onto the club’s number.

I will remind you that you can log on and see every donation you have given to Our Foundation.  Log into your account at my.rotary.org.  In the upper right hand corner, right next to your name is a dropdown icon – click this and chose ‘My Donations’ – when the next page loads click ‘Donor History Report’ – on the next page click ‘Donor History Report’ (again) – when it loads you are looking at all of your donations for this Rotary year and the first past Rotary year (Rotary years run from July through June each year).  If you click on the ‘Transaction detail’ tab at the bottom of the report you can see every donation you have made and every points transfer you have received or given going back to the mid 1980’s. Or you can contact me and ask me where you stand with your Rotary recognition total.  I can not see the information on the tab but I can see the main page report.

I hope to see you all at the District 5970 conference in Waverly, April 21-22 2023.  To register, click here.

We continue to look for Rotarians to work on the District Foundation Committee.  If you think you might be interested, please contact me so we can talk.  No obligation, just information.

Thank you for choosing to be a Rotarian.  Please let me know if I can help you on your Rotary journey.
