Dear Rotarians,

Did you know that Membership, Public Image, and Foundation Giving all work together to create a vibrant Rotary Club?  Succeeding in one area helps the other two areas succeed.  I’m excited by the new member proposal that was given to your club from our District Membership Committee recently.  It’s a great example of how all three areas work together to strengthen our clubs.  Here’s how it works:
  1. Membership—those clubs who have the largest percentage increase in new members this year will receive a $500 grant from the District for a project in their community.  The new members get to choose the project and implement it.
  2. Foundation—the grants given to the projects the new members create come from the District Grant funding we receive from the Foundation.  That funding is determined by amount of giving Rotarians in our District give to the Annual Fund each year.
  3. Public Image—when these projects are completed, the clubs let their communities know about the good work their Rotary Club is doing.  This goes a long way in attracting new members, and once again the cycle begins.

World Polio Day is October 24—How Does Your Club Plan To Take Action?

We have much to celebrate!  Africa has now been declared free of the wild poliovirus.  Rotarians continue to move closer to the goal of total eradication.  Plan an activity in your club.  Ask your club leadership about what is being planned for World Polio Day to promote polio eradication.
  • Dedicate a club meeting to polio eradication awareness.  Invite a guest speaker who is a polio survivor.  Invited your local media to the meeting.  Have a discussion aimed at increasing awareness of Rotary’s fight against polio.
  • Host a virtual viewing party for friends and club members to watch the official Rotary International Online Global Update on October 24.
  • Show the “5 Ways to End Polio” video at your club meeting.  You can find it at this link:

A really great End Polio Now toolkit is available to help you plan and celebrate.  This toolkit has press releases, banners, posters, social media messages, infographics and educational materials. Visit this link to view those materials:

EREY—Every Rotarian, Every Year

Many of you give every year to The Rotary Foundation.  Thank you!  There are also Rotarians in our District who have yet to get started in their giving to The Rotary Foundation.   Every Rotarian, Every Year is the cornerstone of support for the Foundation.  Those who give each year strengthen their engagement and connection with Rotary.  Did you know that donors who gave a gift between $100 - $249 contributed over $25 million to the Foundation last year? Your gift does make a difference!

Watch for more to come on how to do your part in helping the Foundation keep doing good in the world.
