Foundation First newsletter

Welcome to the month of November's District 5970 Foundation newsletter.
November is Rotary Foundation Month.  Please consider The Rotary Foundation when planning your philanthropic giving.
Those that have heard my Foundation presentation know I believe that if each Rotarian gives what they can, our pooled resources can accomplish a lot.  Last year Rotarians that gave between $25.00 To $50.00 made up over 20% of the total given to Our Foundation.  If each of us could give at least $25.00 we could triple the good Rotary is doing in the world.
October 24th was World Polio Day.  There is good news around Rotary’s effort to eradicate wild virus polio in the world.  If you have not seen it, here is a link to a video from our Rotary International President with his message click here.
I was able to hear the two Iowa pilots’ program in October and I thought it was inspiring.  At one point in their journey, they were asked in a press conference if they hoped that Rotary would eradicate wild polio.  One of them said no, they did not hope for this.  All the press came to attention, the cameras swung his way ….  He then said he BELIEVED that Rotary would eradicate wild polio from the world.  I have now changed my narrative to this statement.  I believe Rotary will eradicate wild polio from the world and I will help by being a member of our district’s PolioPlus Society.  If you want to help as well, please consider joining the District 5970’s PolioPlus Society, Click here to download the application form.
The district is always looking for more committee members to help with the work the district does to help the local clubs.  No matter what your interest is (membership, image, marketing, stewardship, club insurance coverage, assistant district governorship or (of course) Our Foundation), there is a place for you.  If you have an interest in getting more involved, please contact our District Governor Carol Bernhard at or our district Executive Secretary Suellen Kolbet - for more information.  No obligation, just information.
In next month’s newsletter we will be kicking off the 2023-2024 District 5970 Rotary Rush Campaign.  We usually help over 60 Rotarians a year reach the first or the next level of Paul Harris Recognition.
Thank you for your attention and please contact me if I can help you on your Rotary journey.
