July, 2019

Greetings, District 5970!

For those who don’t know me, I’m Michelle Bell, your 2019-2020 District Governor. I’m honored to serve Rotary International right here in Eastern Iowa.

As you carry out your duties and activities this year, know that you have a wealth of resources in your assistant district governors, other district leaders, and me. We are here to help you engage your members, recruit new members, and make a difference in your community.

Throughout the year, I encourage you to send me photos of your activities. It will help us all connect with each other and spur ideas for other clubs. Bonus points if you include a picture with Flat Paul Harris!

Nominations Now Open for Leadership Development Program

Two members of our Rotary Zone will have the opportunity to attend the Leadership Development Program Conference in Overland Park, KS, Sept. 25-29. This conference will help future Rotary leaders develop essential skills to forge success in Rotary, professionally, and personally.

Along with a deep dive into what it means to be a Rotarian, key learnings will include:

  • Teambuilding and volunteer leadership skills
  • Professional communication and brand storytelling
  • Creating, supporting, and sustaining positive change using your unique skills
  • Strategic visioning, goal-setting, and implementation
If you have the tenacity to be an active, engaged participant and dynamic future Rotary leader, consider applying for a nomination. Applications are due July 30. Apply for a nomination today

Apply for a Public Image Grant

As a Rotarian, you know your district makes an impact on your community. Now it’s time to let everyone know! Consider applying for a public image (PI) grant for your club to help increase community awareness and attract new members.

Rotary clubs that have never received a PI grant can apply for up to 26 matching grants of up to $250 each. Clubs must match the grants dollar-for-dollar and apply the funds to long-term projects (grant requests for one-time events or projects will not be accepted). Projects must be completed by June 1, 2020.

The application deadline is Dec. 1, 2019. Apply for your club’s grants today.
