Greetings from Kate Kueter

I wanted to share an update from this past weekend, when I had the privilege of attending the Rotary District 1120 & 1130 Joint Conference in Eastbourne, England, representing our club as a Rotary Global Scholar. The theme of the conference was “Unite for Good,” and it brought together Rotarians from across London, Kent, East Sussex, and Gibraltar for a weekend of fellowship, inspiration, and service.

Throughout the conference, I had the chance to connect with other Global Scholars and members of several London-area clubs. I especially enjoyed a dinner with the Westminster Rotary Club and a lively cabaret evening featuring magicians—a fun reminder that Rotary fellowship always comes with a sense of joy and creativity!

Among the inspiring speakers was Maya Amangeldiyeva, founder of the Free Shop initiative, who spoke about her work supporting families through economic hardship. Other sessions featured presentations from Rotary-supported projects such as Children's Fun Day and Rotary Christmas Toy Boxes

The weekend was a wonderful reminder of Rotary’s global reach and the many ways clubs across Great Britain and Ireland are living out our shared mission of “Service Above Self.” It was an honour to represent our Iowa club here in London and to see firsthand how Rotary’s impact extends across borders and generations.

Thank you again for your continued encouragement and support of the Global Scholar program.

Sincerely,

Kate Kueter
