Youth Certification Website

Rotary District 5970 strives to create and maintain a safe environment for all youth who participate in Rotary activities. To the best of their ability, Rotarians, Rotarians’ spouses and partners, and other volunteers must safeguard the children and young people they come into contact with and protect them from physical, sexual and emotional abuse. To that end, District 5970 has adopted a Youth Protection Policy which requires that all volunteers be properly educated and vetted before engaging with youth in a volunteer capacity. This educational and vetting process is accomplished by completing the following three step procedure:

  1. Complete and submit the District 5970 Youth Volunteer Application located here.  When you have completed the application, an e-mail will be sent to des@district5970.org.

  2. When the District Executive Secretary receives notice that you have completed a volunteer application, you will receive an e-mail inviting you to take the Youth Protection training course.  The email will come from NAYEN Training Administrator (noreply@nayen.org) and will invite you to take the training course  When you have completed the course, send an e-mail to des@district5970.org that you have done so.

  3. Submit the required information to Intellicorp for a criminal background check of the volunteer applicant.  Once you complete the application and take the course, you will receive an e-mail inviting you to complete the background check application.  There will be a fee of $14.30 (and rarely an extra court fee, depending on the County)
Upon receipt of the completed application, the test results from the Youth Protection course, and the results of the criminal background check from Intellicorp, the District will advise the applicant, at the email address provided by the applicant in his or her application, of the acceptance or rejection of the application. If an application to serve as a volunteer is rejected, an explanation will be provided at the applicant’s request. The applicant or applicant’s club may appeal the rejection of an application to the District Governor whose decision on the appeal will be final and not subject to further appeal.
