Mason City Rotary - "Light up the Night"

One of the club members (Scott Miller) dreamed up the idea of “Light up the Night”, a drive-through light display at the North Iowa Events Center (fairgrounds).  Another club member (Dalena Barz) has also played a role in organizing the event, along with many others.  Companies and other community organizations were given the opportunity to set up lighted displays along the route.  The photo below is the Mason City club’s display along the route.  It was built by Tim Moreau, and Jamie Nelson helped finance the project.

All proceeds go to Toys for Tots, Crisis Intervention, and Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank.  The cost to drive through is $10/car, and so far, over 3,000 cars have driven through the display.  Many of the club members have helped direct traffic on the nights that it is open.  There are two nights remaining – Saturday, December 26th and Sunday, December 27th.

It’s been amazing to see the community come together to enjoy the light display and support these great organizations!
